Mayo ‘playing pretty well' after knee injury

Jerod Mayo suffered an MCL sprain on Oct. 2 and was expected to be out for an extended period of time.

But he returned after just two weeks and is satisfied with his performance thus far.

"I think I'm playing pretty well, you know, it's a week-by-week basis with me," Mayo told Tom E. Curran Thursday on 'Quick Slants'. "I still have the knee issue going on, but it's getting better. The training staff is doing an excellent job, getting me back right."

The Patriots captain also discussed how to prepare for a quarterback without any film. Tyler Palko will start for the Chiefs on Monday in place of injured Matt Cassel, who underwent potentially season-ending hand surgery on Monday.

"It's very difficult, but at the same time, we have to go in with the mindset that he's going to go out an perform well, so we have to have a game plan ready for him and a game plan for the rest of the guys."
