Mayo: Know nothing about Haynesworth fight

Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran spoke with Patriots co-captain Jerod Mayo about the release of Albert Haynesworth and the circumstances that may, or may not, have led up to it.

"I wasn't around him a lot," Mayo said. "I'm a linebacker. Defensive linemen have their own room. It's not up to me to make personnel decisions, that's coach Belichick and staff and they felt like he wasn't fitting in properly here."

Curran asked Mayo about an alleged dispute that occurred between Haynesworth and assistant coach Pepper Johnson on the sidelines during Sunday's game against the Giants. It's been rumored that Mayo helped to break up the altercation.

"Inaccurate," Mayo said. "I don't know anything about that. My mother asked me about that. I said I don't know anything about that . . . I would not lie to my mom."
