Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran had a chat with Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo on CSNNE's Quick Slants where the Pats captain touched on a number of Pats-related topics, including how the team chemistry looks early on.

"You know what I think the chemistry is there," Mayo said. "Guys are coming out here working hard each and every day. We're building that camaraderie, we have some new faces but we also have people who have played a lot of football here in New England are leading the way."

The defense has has had its moments over the last few years, but generally speaking it's been the weak part of the Pats game. But with more continuity and some key additions, the defense could take a leap in a positive direction. While Mayo agrees, he's focused on just winning, and so much how they win.

"Definitely. We go out there each and every day with a plan to win," Mayo said. "Whether the score is 99-98 or 2-0, the goal is to win, so we're going out here as a team. It's not just the offense, it's not just the defense or special teams. We're a team and that's how we're going to continue to play."

Mayo is certainly a team player, and has some similar characteristics as a former Patriot, Tedy Bruschi. Bruschi was elected into the Patriots Hall of Fame after he won three Super Bowls with the Pats, and played his entire career in New England. Mayo hopes to be able to say that he, too, plays his entire career with the Pats.

"When I first got into the league he welcomed me with open arms," Mayo said. "We live in the same neighborhood, we're always chilling. But it is a goal, you always want to finish where you start. I love it here in New England, and hopefully that's the case."
