FOXBORO -- Brandon Spikes made headlines earlier this month when he guaranteed that his new team, the Bills, would hand his former team two losses this season.

Patriots guard Logan Mankins -- never one to shy away from a little trash talk on the field -- said on Thursday that he hadn't paid too much attention to any of the comments made by his former teammates.

"I've only heard guys joking around about what he said so I think it was just Brandon being Brandon," Mankins said. "He has a pretty good sense of humor I think . . .Well I don't know if it's good. But he likes to make jokes. I don't know if he was joking or if he was being serious, but I think that's just Spikes being Spikes."

In his conversation with reporters, Mankins was asked what he thought about former Patriots players -- like Spikes and Aqib Talib -- making comments about the organization on their way out the door, especially when it comes to how the team handles its injury reports.

"Everyone has their own opinions," Mankins said. "Everyone likes to think they know it all. It doesn't really bother me too much. I know what we have here. I know the owner very well now from over the years, and I know our head coach. And those guys, they care about the team, they care about winning football games. No matter what anyone says, it kind of rolls off our backs. We know what we have here."
