FOXBORO -- Rob Gronkowski is just going "day-by-day." We get that.

But until the Patriots' star tight end returns to a game, their opposing teams are also in a position to use a day-by-day preparation approach.

Because, after all, you never know. And in the case that this Sunday is the game in which Gronkowski returns, the Cincinnati Bengals will be prepared for it.

"Rob's a fine player," said Bengals coach Marvin Lewis in a conference call on Wednesday. "He makes a difference to their offense, and yeah, you've got to be prepared that if he's in the football game, it makes a little bit of a difference as you put together your defensive plan."
