By winning the Super Bowl, the Ravens won an additional honor: The right to kick off the 2013 NFL season with a home game on the Thursday night before the opening weekend (assuming they can settle a scheduling conflict with the Orioles, that is).

And their opponent on Sept. 5 might be a very familiar one.

“I’d be surprised if we’re not the opening opponent for Baltimore on Thursday night,” Patriots owner Robert Kraft told the team's Web site.

The Patriots, who lost the AFC title game to the Ravens at Gillette Stadium in January (in addition to losing a regular-season game to them at M&T Bank Stadium in September), are scheduled to play in Baltimore in 2013.

“It would be so exciting for our organization, our fans, if we could open up there,” Kraft said, adding, “and hopefully have the right result this time.”
