It sounds like if it's up to the man in charge, Wes Welker will remain a member of the Patriots for the remainder of his career.
While in New York for the NFL's announcement of a "head health initiative," Patriots owner Robert Kraft was asked about Welker, who is scheduled to hit free agency on Tuesday.
"We want Wes," Kraft said, according the New York Post. "We really do."
Welker and the Patriots are closer than they've ever been to signing an extension, and it's likely he returns to New England. But, according to a report by ESPN, he will hit free agency on Tuesday before signing a deal.
"I love Wes Welker," Kraft told ESPN on Monday. "I hope he remains a Patriot for life, just like Tom Brady."
