FOXBORO – Robert Kraft said Tuesday night that he’s “rooting” for Tim Tebow, but claimed his support will not include lobbying for Tebow to make the team.

"Week to week you're going to ask the questions – if we don't perform up to standard, why we didn't (perform)," Kraft said before the Patriots Premiere event at Gillette Stadium. "I think we want to make sure we have the 53 best people to help us win games during the year. I’m rooting for (Tebow) and I’m in his corner but I have the privilege of letting Bill (Belichick) make those decisions. He’s got a pretty good track record of doing it.”

On Tuesday, when asked about Tebow, Belichick said, “He’s great to work with; outstanding.”

Tebow’s on-field performance – particularly in his two preseason appearances – has been disappointing. But Kraft echoed Belichick’s feelings on the impact Tebow’s personality and presence has.

"He’s been a real joy to have around here. I see why he has such a strong national following, he’s just a great, great young man,” said Kraft. “We’re also privileged to have Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett. I like our position. If you look around the league and see what’s happening to two of the teams in our division, I just give thanks for the position we’re in.”
