The New York Jets have officially agreed to terms with free agent kicker Billy Cundiff, the team announced on Tuesday.
Cundiff's deal is for one year and the veteran minimum salary. He is expected to provide competition in training camp for the incumbent Nick Folk. Patriots fans may remember Cundiff from his missed kick in the closing moments of the 2012 AFC Championship Game that helped the Patriots reach Super Bowl XLVI.
The Jets will be the 12th different team Cundiff has played for during his NFL career and this is his 19th contract since entering the league in 2002. As a rookie with the Dallas Cowboys, Cundiff kicked a then-record seven field goals on Monday Night Football against the New York Giants.
