Nice jump by Brian Hoyer. From undrafted rookie in 2009 to a 1.92 million salary in 2012. The Patriots tendered Hoyer, Tom Brady's backup, with a second-round tender as a restricted free agent. That means the Patriots will pay him the 1.92 million in 2012 but if another team wants to sign him, they can do so but they'll have to give New England a second-round pick in exchange. The Patriots will also have a chance to match any offer made. If I were an AFC team in quarterback need, I'd do that. Makes the Patriots worse and gives me a chance to strike gold with a backup who'll be better than anyone in the draft (outside of Luck and RG3). Say, two years, 8 million with 5 million guaranteed?
