The AFC Championship game is still more than a week away, but it could shape up to be a classic if all things fall right.
Tom Brady versus Peyton Manning one more time in the playoffs would certainly draw a lot of buzz, but if Andrew Luck was to face off against Manning for a shot at the Super Bowl, that would drive a lot of attention as well.
Andy Hart and Paul Perillo debated on Patriots Football Weekly which matchup television networks would rather see.
“I don’t know how you could look at it any other way,” Hart said. “The greatest individual rivalry in the NFL has been Manning-Brady. You get to extend it. There is a Super Bowl on the line. That is the easy answer. Everybody in the world wants to see Manning-Brady.”
However, Perillo believes it might be time for a new upcoming star to emerge on an ever bigger stage.
“Great ones come and they move on, and Andrew Luck is the next great thing,” Perillo said. “I want to see what he can do on that stage. And from an unbiased viewpoint when I’m just looking at just from the pure network standpoint, I can’t wait to see Andrew Luck play in a game of that magnitude against the guy he replaced.”
