With a defense depleted by injuries, the New England Patriots were looking for someone to emerge.
Chandler Jones has done just that, as in his second NFL season the defensive lineman has 8 ½ sacks to lead the Patriots.
Andy Hart on Patriots Football Weekly discussed Jones’ play and his ability to avoid a sophomore slump.
“We were looking for a year to jump, and Jones is bringing it,” Hart said. “And with all the injuries on the front and on the defense as a whole, he is going to have to maintain that pace and be a key playmaker for the defense throughout his second season.”
Hart also touched upon the offensive line and their struggles this season, as they have allowed 26 sacks in nine games.
“It just hasn’t been good enough,” said Hart on the offense’s line play. “I didn’t just notice the problem, clearly, offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia knows he has to clean that up.”
