Talk about putting your money where your mouth is.
'Birdman' or 'Birdman aka Baby' -- a rapper and record producer in New Orleans whose real name is Bryan Williams and who happens to be the uncle of Patriots running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis -- took to Twitter earlier this week and offered anyone who was interested a 5 million bet on the Patriots to beat the Giants in the Super Bowl. Ron Borges of the Boston Herald has the details.
Green-Ellis, obviously, declined all comment. But at least some of his teammates were amused by the whole thing.
"Obviously, Benny can't get involved," said offensive tackle Matt Light, "but I hope his uncle takes him out to dinner if we win."
Chris Gasper explains why he does not think Rex Ryan has the temperament to turn the Buffalo Bills around.
The Patriots had both Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett on the field for Tuesday's practice.
While many are hopeful that Garoppolo will be ready to go on Sunday, it’s definitely not a given at this point.
According to CSN’s Mike Giardi, Garoppolo is “still in pain and does not yet have full mobility in his throwing shoulder”
Tom E. Curran had better news about Jacoby Brissett’s thumb. The rookie quarterback was in the Patriots locker room locker room Tuesday morning without splint, tape or cast on his thumb.
When he asked Brissett if he's feeling "tip-top," he answered, "Oh yeah."
