NDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Over 800 media members are expected at the 2013 NFL Combine. Seemingly endless banquet tables are set up in Lucas Oil Stadium as work spaces.
Imagine the electric bill.
>Podiums await the day's coaches, GM's, and prospective players. The blue backdrops, under fluorescent spotlights, are branded with the Under Armour logo. The same logo will be stamped on the workout gear of each NFL hopeful. There's no escaping the fact this half-week is just one gigantic business convention.
The show starts at 10 am.
Beginning with Chicago Bears head coach Mark Trestman, team representatives will speak at 15 minute intervals.
A few highlights:
10:15 am: San Francisco 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke. He will likely remark on his young team's run to Super Bowl appearance last season. There will also be questions to answer about quarterback Alex Smith, who has a $8.5 million cap hit despite now being Colin Kaepernick's backup.
10:45 am: Denver Broncos Head Coach John Fox. Odds on someone asking if he'd again tell Peyton Manning to take a knee in the AFC Divisional Playoff?
11:15 am: Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland. Black Monday came and went with Ireland escaping the axe. Luckily for him, the 'Fins have five draft picks and plenty of cap space this offseason. Pressure's on.
2:30 pm: Brand new Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly. This season will mark the first in the NFL for the former Oregon Ducks steward. Kelly's transition to the big league is incredibly intriguing.
4:00 pm and 4:15 pm: New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan and GM John Idzik are speaking back to back. Gotham is in shambles; this should be fun.
We'll be keeping you updated all day. Stay tuned.
