The Patriots have already obtained arguably the best cornerback in the NFL in Darrelle Revis.
Could they be working on something to get one of the best wide receivers in the game, too?
CSN Philadelphia is reporting that the Patriots inquired about Eagles WR DeSean Jackson, The Eagles are reportedly looking for a 3rd rounder and potentially more in return for Jackson.
He's due $30 million in base salary over the next three seasons - not cheap money at all.
So, what's the play? Gary Tanguay and Chris Gasper discuss on Early Edition.
"I think they seem to be in a win-now mode. I would love to see it," Gasper said. "This guy is a baller. And he is a field stretcher. Now, he's a little undersized, but he's one of the most dynamic wide receivers in the game. You go back since he entered the league and look at guys in yards per catch, this guy is right up at the top. If you could unload Amendola's contract, and all you have to do is move a 3rd to get DeSean Jackson coming off a career year, he's only 27 years old, he's in his prime, do it. Do it now, Bill. Do it, Bill!"
Jackson isn't just a big contract . . . he's also a big diva. He's got that Randy Moss-type baggage.
"You have to understand what you're getting DeSean Jackson," Tanguay said. "He's a diva. He puts up numbers. He wants an even better contract than the one he has, so that's what you're dealing with. He's certainly not going to renegotiate to come here, that's not happening."
