Are you sitting down? Have a glass of water handy? You do?
Then you're ready to hear that a debate arose on "Felger & Mazz" today about the Patriots' championship chances . . . and Michael Felger was the optimist.
Former Patriots tight end Jermaine Wiggins, a regular guest on the 98.5 The Sports Hub radio show (which is simulcast on Comcast SportsNet), wasn't impressed by the Pats' 34-3 win over the Chiefs Monday night, saying, "Is this team built to win a Super Bowl? Can I say that? . . . I can't sit here and lie and say that they are."
Felger -- yes, Felger -- disagreed.
"Is this a championship caliber team? Yeah, I think they're right in the mix," he said. "Is this a championship caliber roster? No. It's not, not in the classic sense. But they're right in the thick of it! How can you say they're not? They once again have the inside track for the No. 1 seed in the conference . . . "
"But that's by default, though!" Wiggins said, arguing that the Pats are benefitting from the weaknesses of other conference opponents.
"Well, fine!" retorted Felger. "Does that mean the championship doesn't count? They don't get to raise the banner?"
