Free agency is just around the corner, and the Patriots have a few players heading there if they don't come to terms with them soon.
One of those players is wide receiver Julian Edelman.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Thursday that the two sides were discussing a new deal. But as of Friday afternoon, there has been no agreement.
The Patriots struggles at wide receiver have been well documented. After the loss of Aaron Hernandez to jail, and Rob Gronkowski to injury, the team was forced to rely on its young receivers and Danny Amendola, who also got hurt. Edelman proved to be the team's only reliable option in the passing game - and Tom Brady utilized him very well.
Edelman finished the season with 105 catches for 1,056 yards and six touchdowns. He did all that while being paid just over $1 million last season. This time, he'll see a much bigger contract. But will it be from the Patriots?
That's our question to you: Do the Patriots have to get Edelman signed before the start of the new NFL year (and free agency) on March 11? Let us know in the comments section and be sure to hit up CSNNE's Early Edition to hear the discussion.
