At this rate, Alfonzo Dennard may never appear in court.

Once again, the Patriots defensive back had his court date pushed back, this time from September 6 to September 16, according to the court clerk in Lincoln, Neb. He originally was scheduled to appear in court in August for a probation violation hearing after he was arrested for suspicion of DUI in Lincoln, Neb.

The new date, which falls on a Monday, allows Dennard to play in the team's first two games of the season - including next Thursday's home opener against the Jets - before traveling to Nebraska.

In April of 2013, Dennard was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 24 months of probation after he was found guilty of felony assault on a police office and resisting arrest back in April of 2012. At that time, the judge allowed Dennard to wait until March 1, 2014 to serve the sentence.

But Dennard put that date in jeopardy with the DUI, and if he does in fact go to court on September 16, will hear from the judge whether or not the serving of the sentence has changed.

Dennard could potentially have to serve the 30-day jail sentence immediately, which would cause him to miss the team's games from Week 3 through Week 6, including the Buccaneers, Falcons, Bengals, and Saints.
