Patriots cornerback Alfonzo Dennard has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for assaulting a police officer in Nebraska last April, according to Shalise Manza-Young of the Boston Globe. His 2013 season with New England will not be affected.
Dennard is scheduled to serve his jail time starting March 1, 2014, and he is credited for three days already served while awaiting sentencing.
Dennard was convicted of the third-degree assault charge, as well as for resisting arrest, on February 20. He was given 24 months probation attached to each charge, to be served concurrently. He must perform 100 hours of "law-enforcement related" community service as well.
The presiding judge said she will consider motions to change the probation terms -- including the suspension of jail time -- at a later date.
Manza-Young further details the defensive back can only travel between Massachusetts and Nebraska, and can make work-related trips with the team.
