Alfonzo Dennard was set to serve out his jail time for assaulting a police officer next March, in order to avoid interfering with his upcoming NFL season. A second arrest on suspicion of drunk driving may mean the troubled cornerback won't be so lucky.

According to online court records, Dennard is scheduled to appear at an arraignment hearing on July 31 regarding the probation he received for the assault conviction. At the hearing, Nebraska prosecutors will call for the cornerback's probation to be revoked, which could remove the stipulation that Dennard's jail time be delayed until after the 2013 season.

If nothing is moved, this arraignment will come six days after Dennard is required to report to the Patriots for training camp. The team last week released a statement, expressing their extreme disappointment over Dennard's latest arrest.

We knew this alleged second slip-up could have implications on Dennard's availability this upcoming season. The news of this arraignment hearing signals that, for now, matters are heading in that direction.
