At the midway point in the NFL season, it is time to hand out some awards.

Tom E. Curran went through his midseason awards for New England Patriots players on Quick Slants.

First up, Curran named Aqib Talib and Devin McCourty as his defensive Most Valuable Players.

“I know Talib has been down for a couple weeks, but his performance has delivered the Patriots wins, Atlanta specifically,” Curran said. “While overall, Devin McCourty at the back end of the defense has been lights out.”

On the offensive side of things, Curran said Julian Edelman is his offensive MVP.

“I’ve told you before and I’ll tell you again, the slot position is not the problem in the Patriots offense,” Curran said. “Keep crying about Wes Welker, but Edelman is on pace for 100 catches.”
