BALTIMORE -- The Patriots spent the first 30 minutes of a pivotal game in Baltimore making the Ravens look really stupid. Jumping to a 17-0 lead by the break and holding the Ravens to just five first downs, here’s a few lookie-loos.

The first half was penalty-marred as I warned you it might be this morning. There’s been a dozen accepted penalties in the first half, seven on the Ravens who sprinted to an early lead in the flagfest. The Patriots had five flags thrown on them.

The Patriots put a hammerlock on the Ravens offense, allowing just 71 total yards and five first downs. Flacco, who looks very immobile, was 5 for 10 for 52 yards in the first half with one interception and two shoulda-been picks. He’s also been sacked three times.

The Patriots lost Devin Mccourty to a head injury early in the second half and Steve Gregory hurt his knee so the Patriots are again dealing with some adversity in terms of personnel.

Shane Vereen also went out with a groin tweak and has been riding the stationary bike on the sidelines.

LeGarrette Blount ran effectively in the first half with 56 yards on 10 carries.

Despite reasonable concerns about the protection Tom Brady would be afforded, he’s only been sacked once and he’s stood in patiently with the pocket being pushed around him.

The Patriots’ execution was outstanding offensively in the red zone where they went 2 for 2. Special teams also been a Patriots’ checkmark.
