FOXBORO -- The Patriots are in danger of dropping their third game in their last four meetings, trailing Miami 17-3 at the half. Lose this one and the AFC East tightens up even more.

* Tom Brady threw for 25 yards in the first half. He had three bad throws to Rob Gronkowski. One was a pick, one was incomplete on third down, one was a triple-coverage throw on third down on which Brady got bailed out by a pass interference call.

* The Dolphins ran the ball 22 times in the first half. Their high for a game this season is 26. Exploiting the Patriots shortcomings in the middle.

* The Patriots tweaked their communication on defense by giving the green dot to Steve Gregory instead of Dont’a Hightower.

* H-back Charles Clay has been targeted six times already. A season-high.

* Protection has been below average. Logan Mankins has been twice beaten for sacks

* Marcus Cannon is in for Vollmer who may have broken his right leg in the second quarter.

* Neither Logan Ryan nor Stevan Ridley played in the first quarter. Both did some hot-dogging last week on TDs against the Jets.
