With the NFL Draft a week away, assessing needs can help determine the direction in which a team may head at the annual team-building meet.

During the Quick Hits segment of Quick Slants, Tom E. Curran answered a question about the depth at safety for the New England Patriots.

@tomecurran @heykayadams Do you also feel the need to pick up another saftey? what is the possibility we will?

"I think there is a significant need," Curran said. "I love Deone Bucannon from Washington State."

But why?

"The reason is: when you look at this offense and defense, they have 21 positions filled from last year where you can say, 'That's the guy to do it.' One of the safety spots is the only spot that they don't have filled."

Currently, the Patriots have safeties Patrick Chung, Kannoris Davis, Nate Ebner, Justin Green, Duron Harmon, Devin McCourty and Tavon Wilson on their roster.
