With the Patriots offense struggling, especially on third down, they are missing a key weapon that you might not have thought of.

It is Danny Woodhead, not Wes Welker that the Patriots miss more as their former third down running back could have helped out in many areas after the Patriots went one-for-12 on third downs against the New York Jets last week.

Tom E. Curran talked on Quick Slants how the Patriots could have really used Woodhead at the moment..

“I understand everybody is still down in the mouth about Wes Welker being elsewhere,” Curran said. “But the real little white guy the Patriots miss is Danny Woodhead. He’s out in San Diego doing damage for the Chargers.”

The Patriots tried to replace Woodhead with other running backs like Leon Washington, but it has not worked out.

“He has not been capability replaced here in New England,” Curran said. “Welker, on the other hand has been somewhat replaced by [Julian] Edelman and to a lesser degree Danny Amendola.”
