With the New Year upon us, fans of the Patriots are hoping they will do some things differently in 2014.

Tom E. Curran and Mary Paoletti on Quick Slants used social media to hear fan’s New Year resolutions for the Patriots.

One viewer wants the Patriots to spend money this offseason, especially on Julian Edelman. Curran projected it will take about a contract of three years worth nine million dollars overall to retain the wide receiver.

“People might hold it against Julian Edelman because all of a sudden he has made a lot of plays and he’s going to come back looking for money,” Curran said. “People will say, ‘You know what, you’re a product of the offense.’ This is a guy that made $715K in 2013. Wouldn’t begrudge him at all, test the market and try to cash in.”

Another viewer wanted Bill Belichick to open up more to the media in the New Year.

“He’s been doing this awesome thing where someone will ask a question and then he’ll kind of give a short answer.” Paoletti said. “Then you can see in his face he is saying, ‘Don’t be a jerk Bill.’ And then, he will go for it and give the full answer.”
