It's time for Curran Events!
First up, LeGarrette Blount and his impressive debut for the Patriots against the Eagles. Blount rushed for 101 yards whether they were goal line carries, or 51-yard touchdown runs. Either way, the Pats look all set at running back, and Curran thinks Blount's role could be in short-yardage situations.
"For LeGarrette Blount at 250-plus pounds, he's the guy you might want to be able to give the ball on 3rd-and-1 and 3rd-and-goal," Curran said. "In Tampa, he wasn't so hot on short yardage. He also fumbled the ball. Let's see in this entire preseason and in the regular season, he does a better job and has turned the corner."
On the other side of the ball, Curran is high on the return of Dane Fletcher, who missed all of last season with a torn ACL. Fletcher is back now and looks ready to go.
"I think he's a player in the middle of the field defensively who can make some plays in the passing game," Curran said. "He's going to look good in preseason games. He's been around for a while. Because of that you'll see guy whose smarter than the other guys on the field. But I think Dane Fletcher is going to be the guy toss pell Brandon Spikes, who is still not a three-down back."
And lastly, Curran comes to the defense of Aqib Talib getting "burned" by DeSean Jackson last week. He warns to watch closely before judging certain completions.
