Wes Welker was Tom Brady's go-to receiver when he was a Patriot? Now that Welker is with the Denver Broncos, his replacement, Danny Amendola, can fill the void.
Amendola signed with the Patriots after New England lost Welker. Though he has never caught more than 90 passes in a season before, Tom E. Curran said he will be targeted often by Tom Brady.
"I think Amendola will definitely be the guy who's going to see a number of passes," Curran said. "I think he'll be the focal point."
In years past, Brady would set aside receivers to get to know them better and build a strong relationship together, like he did with Welker and Randy Moss. However, since the Patriots lost five key targets from last year, Brady hasn't been like that.
"You don't see as much of that this year," Curran said.
However, Curran also said players like Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson will play pivotal roles as Patriots receivers. After all, Brady made players like Deion Branch and Reche Caldwell into household names.
