Brandon Deaderick, a surprise cut by the Patriots on Monday, has been signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
A seventh-round pick of the Patriots in 2010, Deaderick’s on-field performance seemed to be ascending during the latter half of the 2012 season. But a source says Deaderick’s work ethic had been a nagging issue since he arrived and that Deaderick was “complacent.” Whether that was the sole reason for Deaderick's release is unknown but it appears to have played a role.
On Tuesday, a recently-arrived Patriot expressed surprise at Deaderick’s release given that Deaderick seemed to have the schemes and responsibilities down and had been a solid tutor on the defensive line since the newcomer arrived.
