The Divisional Round matchup between the Patriots and Colts just got a whole lot juicier.
The Colts announced on Monday afternoon that they signed veteran free-agent receiver Deion Branch -- the same Branch who spent almost seven full seasons in a Patriots uniform and helped the Pats win two Super Bowls.
Branch is a proven playoff performer -- he was named Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XXXIX -- but he hasn't played in an NFL game since the AFC Championship game in Foxboro last season.
The 35-year-old worked out with the Colts earlier this season and reportedly purchased a home in Indiana a few years ago. He spent part of the offseason working out with current Patriots wideout (and former Colt) Austin Collie in Indianapolis while hoping to land an NFL contract.
Branch has long been friends with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, but with this move, the two will be rivals this week.
