Just two days after rejecting an offer from the Patriots, Julian Edelman is being courted aggressively by the Browns.
Cleveland is making a strong push to get Edelman in the fold. The effort comes now that the Browns expect Cincinnati to match their offer for restricted free-agent receiver Andrew Hawkins.
Former Patriots backup quarterback and current Browns signal-caller Brian Hoyer is helping to recruit Edelman to Cleveland. The two played together in New England for three seasons after arriving in Foxboro as members of the 2009 rookie class.
If signed, Edelman would figure to provide the Browns with a legitimate target in the passing game to pair alongside No. 1 wideout Josh Gordon. Working all over Patriots formations in 2013, Edelman had a breakout year with 105 catches for 1,056 and six touchdowns.
