It’s been nine days since the Patriots played. It’s three more days to game day.
Tom Brady said Tuesday he can use all the preparation time. He also signaled he’s getting his mind and message ready for Saturday night.
“These are the moments that you dream about,” Brady said when I asked him if his mood was becoming more serious as the game drew closer.
“It’s the NFL playoffs and you got a chance with eight other teams to be the last team standing. It’s why we work hard. It’s why every guy puts a lot out there. You sacrifice a lot of things. A lot of people would die to be in our positions. I don’t think you take those things for granted. You cherish those and understand the opportunity that’s ahead.”
The Patriots have a relatively young team. Players like Danny Amendola and LeGarrette Blount have never been in the playoffs before. Brady reiterated that there is a finality to these games that players have to be conscious of.
“It’s different than a normal week,” he said. “There’s no, ‘Hey, we’ll get ‘em tomorrow. We’ll talk about the corrections on Monday.’ You got one opportunity to get it right. That’s all you can ask for as an athlete. The great part is, once that ball’s kicked off, none of the other crap matters. It’s just the players that go out there and decide who wins the game by how we play.”
