When WEEI's Dennis and Callahan Show played Seattle corner Richard Sherman's NFC Championship postgame comments for Tom Brady on Monday morning, Brady didn't say anything immediately in response.
When the Patriots quarterback did speak, it became fairly clear that kind of attitude wouldn't fly in the Patriots locker room.
"I don't know him at all," Brady said. "I've watched him play. He's that kind of guy so . . . you know . . . I approach the game and I have respect for my opponents. That's the way our team always plays. We win with graciousness, when we lose we could do better. Some teams don't always do that or that's not their program."
The Patriots have had their share of trash talkers over the years. Guys like Rodney Harrison, Matt Light -- even Brady himself -- have been known to exchange words with their opponents over the years. But Sherman's interview with Fox Sports was on another level.
Brady said that when somebody speaks out like that, there's only one thing you can do if you don't want to listen to it.
"Look, they advanced," Brady said. "The only way to counter that is to beat them. When you don't win . . .You just gotta shut your mouth and listen to it. When you get an opportunity down the road, maybe that's a source of motivation."
