Bigger mistake - losing Papelbon or Welker?

Gary Tanguay and Mike Felger sit down and play one of our favorite games here at CSNNE, "Take Your Pick".

We've got a few good categories this time around, so feel free to leave your picks in the comments section.

First up... Bigger mistake: Was it when the Red Sox let Jonathan Papelbon walk, or when the Patriots let Wes Welker walk?

Tanguay: "Well before [the Patriots] played a game, I would have said Papelbon easily because I think the Red Sox bullpen was in shambles and the jokers they brought in. But look who they brought in? They have Uehara and they're doing fine. The guy is having a career season and he's one of the reasons the Red Sox are World Series contenders. So you have to say Welker."

Felger isn't in agreement though, saying it took the Red Sox two years to find a closer in Uehara, and it wasn't even by their choice - after both of their top closing options got injured. He's willing to give the Patriots more time on Danny Amendola before calling it a big mistake.

Next... Bigger upset: The Patriots winning the Super Bowl in 2001, or if the Red Sox win the World Series in 2013.

Felger: "I think the Patriots are a bigger upset and I'll tell you why: Nobody on that team had won anything. NObody won any championships, no one had any pedigree. Belichick had pedigree as a coordinator, but you just look at that team - who had won a ring before they won a championship? I can't even think of a guy who had won before they all won that year. This Red Sox team? There are some holdovers here from when they were winning championships."

Tanguay is in agreement, saying people had higher hopes for the Red Sox this year than they did with the Patriots that year.

The guys also take their picks on which side of the ball the Patriots will have more success on this season.
