FOXBORO -- Marvin Lewis is impressed with the Patriots offense. More specifically, he's been impressed with their young wide receivers.

"The game hasn't looked too big for them, so they've been able to handle the situation of it," said the Cincinnati Bengals coach in a conference call on Wednesday. "It's not too big. They just keep playing. That's part of it. As the year goes on, they'll just continue to mature and grow. But it hasn't seemed too big for them. They've been up to the challenge."

Lewis is more familiar with one specific rookie wideout for the Patriots.

The Bengals coach said he was "quite a bit" interested in Kenbrell Thompkins.

"He came up and introduced himself to me at the combine over in Indy, and I was up at [University of Cincinnati] a couple of times to work out, and we had him here for our local days," said Lewis on Wednesday, as he prepares for the Patriots on Sunday. "So, we had quite a bit of interaction with him.

"I'm sure we had interest [in signing him as an undrafted free agent]," said Lewis. "We felt like he was a good prospect. Our receiver coach felt really good about him."

Thompkins ended up in New England, and will have a chance to make the Bengals pay on Sunday in Cincinnati.
