"The league is so competitive that – look, it isn’t even who has the better team. It’s just who plays better,” said Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

FOXBORO -- Austin Collie has only been a Patriot since Thursday, as far as official team announcements go. But as Bill Belichick noted Friday morning, that doesn't mean New England won't activate Collie this weekend in Cincinnati.

"At Cleveland we signed a player on Tuesday and started him at quarterback on Sunday," the coach quipped.

Though Tom Brady and his young group of pass catchers appears to be taking strides, adding a receiver with veteran experience can't hurt. Belichick remarked on the fact Collie has some versatility after playing both in the slot and on the outside.

"He seems like a pretty smart guy, so I think probably what we’re doing are things he’s done before, just had different ways of calling it or terminology or that type of thing," Belichick said. "We’ll see. We’ve had him on the field for one day, so we’ll see how it goes today, see what kind of recall there is and see where we’re at tomorrow and make a decision."
