Bedard: Pats would have kept it closer, but still lost

The Broncos didn't look like a team that belonged in the Super Bowl.

The Patriots would have been next in line, having lost to the Broncos in the AFC Championship Game. But if they had won, would they put in a better showing than the Broncos?

We asked that question on Sports Tonight with Lou Merloni, Mike Felger, Rob "Hardy" Poole, and Greg Bedard.

What Bedard said was pretty much agreed upon by all.

"They would have done a little better," Bedard said of the Pats. "The would have kept it closer. They're a better coached team. Belichick would have had them on the fundamentals. The snap thing early in the game would not have happened for the Patriots, even though we say that and the last time they were in the Super Bowl they took a safety on their first drive. But that was just a blown block. This was a big mistake. The PAtriots would have kept it closer, but still the end result would have been the same: they would have gotten dominated by the Seahawks."
