FOXBORO -- The toll of Sunday's game was evident at Wednesday practice.
Five players were missing from the shells session. Cornerback Aqib Talib (left hip), receiver Danny Amendola (head), and offensive lineman Dan Connolly (head) -- all injured against the Saints last weekend -- were absent from the media availability portion of practice. The torn pectoral muscle Jerod Mayo suffered has relegated the linebacker to injured reserve.
Defensive lineman Tommy Kelly (right knee) and running back Leon Washington were also not spotted.
There was a new practice squad player on the field. Travis Howard, a 6-1, 197-pound cornerback, is wearing number 53. Howard is an Ohio State product who was signed by Houston as a rookie free agent on May 10. He had 81 tackles, six interceptions, and 11 passes defensed in his final two seasons with the Buckeyes.
