Originally, D.J. White never imagined he would ever leave his own state. Years later, he is now a member of the Boston Celtics.

OKLAHOMA CITY — As expected, the Boston Celtics have re-signed D.J. White to a second, 10-day contract.

White told CSNNE.com that he signed the deal Sunday morning.

"I'm happy for the opportunity," White said. "I haven't had much time to go out there and play, but I work every day and I'm ready."

White, whose career began with the Oklahoma City Thunder, has appeared in one game this season for the Celtics. In four minutes against Indiana, he had two rebounds.

While it's unlikely that he will crack the Celtics' depth chart anytime soon, he does provide some much-needed insurance in case of foul trouble or another injury.

And it is a role that White has no problem fulfilling right now.

"I just plan to stay ready," White said. "When my number is called, I'm just going to go out there and do what I can to help this team win. That's it."

As for Boston's other 10-day contract player, Shavlik Randolph, he told CSNNE.com that he has yet to sign a second 10-day deal with the C's. However, he is with the C's on this current road trip which can only help his chances of being re-signed.

"We'll see," Randolph said. "We'll see."
