Gerald Wallace is no stranger to referee confrontation. He's long been the kind of player who plays hard and wears his emotion on his sleeve. In a game like last night's loss to the Kings, those emotions got the best of him and he was tossed from the game.
"They do stuff and they don't get called," Wallace said of the Kings physical play. "And we were getting called for petty things. I spoke my mind."
But Wallace wasn't the only one given an early departure. His coach, Brad Stevens, joined him in the locker room after he received his first ejection of his coaching career at any level.
Wallace seemed to have gained a measure of respect for the first-year Celtics head coach after he got the heave.
"I was pretty shocked," Wallace said, smiling. "It was surprising. But I'm happy for him. Welcome to the NBA."
