It appears as though the Doc Rivers era in Boston is finally close to an end

With that, let the search for the next Celtics coach begin.

There may be a few established candidates the Celtics had in mind, but there's one former Celtic with no head-coaching experience who wants to throw hit hat in the ring: Antoine Walker.

'Toine took to Twitter early Monday morning to (jokingly, we think) express some interest in the new Celtics coaching vacancy:

Walker was drafted by the Celtics in 1996 and played seven full seasons in Boston. He made his return to the C's at the trade deadline in 2005 in Rivers' first season as coach. Since leaving the NBA in 2008, Walker has been more known for financial problems he's had off the court.

Whether Walker was serious or not is unclear, but all Celtics fans could probably agree that a little Antoine Shimmy on the bench next season -- while not at all an effective coaching style -- would certainly be entertaining.
