Count Boston Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy among those who don't think the Doc Rivers-to-the-Clippers saga isn't over yet.

While the deal that would send the Celtics coach and Kevin Garnett to Los Angeles appeared to be all but dead by Tuesday night, Shaughnessy told Gary Tanguay and Lou Merloni on "Uno Sports Tonight," that the parties had too much invested in talks so far not to make something work.

"There's been a lot of time invested, you have two motivated parties. I would not rule out that they could still get something done," Shaughnessy said.

Of course, Shaughnessy pointed out that mercurial Clippers owner Donald Sterling could be a factor.

"Don't underestimate the buffoonery of Donald Sterling," Shaughnessy said.

What it comes down to, the Globe columnist told Tanguay, is "whether the Celtics go ahead as currently constituted or if they're going to start over. Scenario B looks like where we're headed here."
