Report: Jazz will match any offer for Hayward

A possible reunion between Celtics head coach Brad Stevens and his former player at Butler, Gordon Hayward, sounds unlikely in Boston.

It's not that the Celtics don't have interest in the Jazz swingman - they do - it's just that the Jazz have just as much (if not more) interest in retaining him.

Gordon is a restricted free agent, but Jody Genessy of the Deseret News in Utah reports that the Jazz are prepared to match any offer that Hayward gets. He reports that the Suns, Celtics, and Bobcats are all interested.

He also reports that the Suns are expected to make a "significant offer, possibly a max deal", but that Utah would match that as well.

Celtics GM Danny Ainge has stated multiple times that he would like to jumpstart the rebuilding process, but he's certainly not finding it easy to do, unsurprisingly. Boston won't land the superstar free agents like LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony this offseason. And while the C's also have interest in trading for Kevin Love, the T-Wolves aren't thrilled about the package they're offering in return, especially now that the NBA Draft has come and gone.
