Celtics legend Bill Russell has undergone two heart procedures over the last month, according to the New York Post's Peter Vecsey.
Vecsey also reported that some days are worse than others for the 11-time NBA champion.
Russell was honored at the 2nd annual MENTOR's Champions Golf Challenge on Monday at Friar's Head, Long Island but could not attend the event he was originally scheduled for due to "personal reasons".
Russell called into the even't award ceremony and said, "This weekends event was a great way to raise money and awareness for mentoring. I am very proud that so many of my friends were able to come out and support this very worthwhile cause. Hopefully everybody had a good time, and I look forward to getting out there to share some laughs with everybody next year.
