Looks like Shelvin Mack will have a chance to play at the TD Garden after all.

When the Boston Celtics were faced with an injury-depleted back-court last month, Mack said he would be ready if they called him up from their NBA Development League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.

Now the 22-year-old guard will have the opportunity to take to the parquet this week, only he won’t be in a Celtics uniform. On Wednesday, the Atlanta Hawks signed Mack to a 10-day contract. The Celtics and Hawks will face off in Boston Friday night.

Mack appeared in 64 games for the Washington Wizards last season and has already played in 11 NBA games this season with the Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers.

He was a standout on the Red Claws this season, averaging 20.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 7.7 assists while earning a selection to the 2013 NBA Development League All-Star Game.

"I've been kind of going through this process all year," Mack told CSNNE.com in February. "I'm just worrying about the things you can control. I see a lot of guys every year that look at message boards and read what's on the Internet and it affects their game. If it's going to happen, it's going to happen. If not, I've just got to stay ready and keep grinding."

Mack will be available for the Hawks game against the 76ers on Wednesday night.
