Rivers: Garnett needs to score more this year

BOSTON -- Doc Rivers said early on in training camp that he wanted Kevin Garnett to be more aggressive offensively this season.

After their final preseason game on Wednesday, his feelings havent changed.

Garnett scored eight points (3-for-7 FG) in the Celtics' 81-73 win over the Toronto Raptors. He added nine points (4-for-7 FG) in 24 minutes in Sunday's victory against the Raptors as well.

He looks good, said Rivers. The first couple of days he was out of synch a little bit, but now he looks great. His jumper looks good again, hes aggressive. I like the fact that he looks more aggressive offensively, which we need him to be.

Rivers wants Garnett to get on the board more this season, and hes not particular about where he scores on the floor. Last season Garnett averaged 14.9 points in 31.3 minutes per game, third on the team behind Paul Pierce and Ray Allen.

He needs to score more this year for us, said Rivers. And I dont care where its from. The purists are saying on the post. I dont care if the ball goes in, it still counts as the same . . . He just has to be more aggressive offensively for us.
