BOSTONA source close to Boston Celtics forward Jeff Green says the 6-foot-8 forward is expected to miss some games early on this season due to an undisclosed health condition that became apparent during his most recent physical.
Green, accompanied by president of basketball operations Danny Ainge, were at an undisclosed location on Friday seeking a second opinion.
Head coach Doc Rivers had expressed optimism earlier in the day that the results from that second opinion would be back in time for him to discuss Green's status following Friday night's intra-squad scrimmage at the TD Garden.
However, Ainge told CSNNE.com that there would not be an update on Green's status forthcoming on Friday.
"I was hoping to have his results back tonight," Ainge said in a phone interview. "We hope to have some answers tomorrow."
Following Friday's game, Rivers said that an announcement on Green's status would be made sometime on Saturday.
It was unclear if the Celtics were going to have a press conference, or whether the team would release a statement.

While the C's have yet to say exactly what Green's condition is, a source says that it can be controlled with medication.
The same source did not know if it would require a medical procedure as well, but "that's one of the options, for sure."
Celtics forward Paul Pierce spoke with Green recently about his yet-to-be-determined status with the team.
"He's down now," Pierce told CSNNE.com. "I had a chance to sit down with him in his locker the other day, and I just told him to keep his head up regardless of what's happening, and just try to stay positive. Whatever happens either way, whether he's able to play or not play, just stay positive and use it for motivation if it's the latter."
