Dooling dunks with a purpose

BOSTON -- Kevin Garnett dished the ball to Keyon Dooling, and then something unexpected happened.

Dooling attacked the basket and went up for a reverse slam. Not just a minor dunk, this one was with intention. It was Doolings first dunk of the season.

Sometimes instincts take over, all the stars align, all the wind is just right so you can take off a little bit, he told CSNNE.com with a smile after the Boston Celtics 102-96 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

The slam dunk was uncharacteristic of the 6-3 veteran guard, who has attempted 41 three-point shots this season. At the same time, it is something he has been focusing on as he works his way back from injuries.

He has missed a total of 16 games this season between sore right knee and right hip pointer injuries. Dooling has used dunking as a way to push his body during the recovery process.

I made a conscious effort the last couple days of practice to make sure I dunk in warm ups, dunk in practice, just trying to get my body back to feeling good and pushing it a little bit more, he said. So its just natural instinct.

With Dooling recording his first dunk on Wednesday night, Rajon Rondo and ETwaun Moore are the only members of the Celtics without a slam this season.
