Delonte West signs one-year deal with Dallas

WALTHAMIt looks like there will not be a D-West on the Boston Celtics roster this season.

No David West, who agreed to a two-year, 20 million deal with Indiana.

And now, no return of Delonte West who will sign a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum with the Dallas Mavericks.

"Dallas believes Delonte can really provide some toughness and versatility in the backcourt," one league source said. "And he's going to a winner, a team that won it all last year. It's a great situation for Delonte to be in."

Another league source said that West wanted to return to Boston, but was becoming impatient with the Celtics who did not seem all that interested in bringing him back.

When asked about the Celtics' interest in West on Monday afternoon, Danny Ainge, the Celtics' president of basketball operations said, "from our standpoint, that's still uncertain."

West will most likely serve as a backup to Jason Kidd.

The deal was first reported by SLAM.
