Celtics squeeze in rare practice

WALTHAM And on this day in Boston Celtics history, the Celtics held a team practice.

Seriously.

With the tighter-than-usual schedule, Tuesday's practice was a rare luxury for a Celtics team that's still trying to hone its chemistry on the floor.

Injuries only complicate matters.

Still, the C's had enough healthy bodies on Monday to actually have a fairly productive practice.

Mickael Pietrus (knee) is doubtful for Wednesday's game, but he was able to practice for portions of Tuesday's session.

"Once in a while, it's good to have a practice," Pietrus said.

The timing of Tuesday's could not be much better.

With the Celtics (15-12) gearing up for a five-game road trip which includes the All-star game sprinkled in the middle, a chance to fine-tune some things before hitting the road was embraced by the players.

"This gives us a chance to work on our execution, get better timing," Celtics forward JaJuan Johnson told CSNNE.com. "We're getting better and better with it in games, but it's nice to be able to get some practice in, just to get better with it."

And with the way the Celtics schedule looks in March, Celtics coach Doc Rivers wasn't sure if the team would have a single practice all month.

Talk about March Madness!
